Welcome to Rufruf.com. This site was started in 1997 by my wife and I. I do all the programming/design while she does the tough work of putting in the dogs.  We started the site because we wanted to show off our first dog, Abbey. And if I wanted to show off my dog, maybe others would too.Approximately a year later later we were receiving 5000 visitors per day, and a hundred plus dogs per month.  We were very busy keeping the site up to date and liked getting all the positive comments from the users. By that time we had added our second dog to our crew, Magnum . Magnum was brought to earth to teach me patience. :) I was part of a non-profit rescue group called MARR (Mid America Rottweiler Rescue) where my role was doing all the backend database work, ie. adding dogs to the site, keeping member contact lists in the database. Through their email list I found out about a dog named Rock in an animal shelter in Kansas that had a good chance of being put down if it wasn't rescued. After much thought my wife and I decided to make the 4 hour trip to take a look. We got there and this great looking rottweiler came trotting out and sat down in front of me, I gave him a rub on the ear and he melted to the floor wanting to be petted more. We took him home and became our lap dog. He has since passed away and is missed.We currently are working with Friends of the Fairmont Animal Shelter in the California Bay Area, I took on a similar role as I did in MARR, creating a backend database system for the web site to hold the animal information. My wife enters the shelter animals into Petfinder.com. FOFAS is a great group and if you are in the Bay Area you should visit them. Information can be found at http://www.fofas.org.
