6/1/97, Mary Myers, Alva, OK, USA (Angel - Greater Swiss Mountain Dog)
Angel is a 9 month old Swissy (short for Greater Swiss Mountain Dog). She is full of life and always up to something, be it good or bad! Her latest "trick" was to get a tube of my Arbonne Herbal Foot Gel off the cabinet and chew it full of holes!! Arbonne is a Swiss skin care company and I guess Angel feels drawn to them since they're both "Swissies!" (She also likes to get my attention when I'm online by chewing on my computer chair. She seems to be doing that very thing right now, so I guess I'd better quit!

Jelly was my office dog for eleven years. She greeted customers with humor and grace all day, every day. She was sure that each one came to see her and scratch her belly. (they probably did).
Her brightness and exceptional intelligence impressed us and others. During Office hours she was the typical welcoming friendly little person that endeared her to many. AFTER office hours, signaled by shutting off the computer and copy machine, even though the door was often left open for air, she became a totally different dog.
If anyone approached the open door, she would instantly become defensive, her bark was sharp and challangeing. She deduced that when the machines were on, it was ok for strangers to come and go. When they were off, it was time to revert to the privacy mode. Smart.
We lost her on our way to Florida from California. We miss that bright star in our lives.

(Lady - German Shepherd, Queenie - Siberian Husky & Princess - Mixed)
I obtained my 14 year old mixed breed dog Princess from PAWS Animal Shelter in NJ about 13 years ago. She has been a registered therapy dog visiting nursing homes in the area. Queenie, my Siberian Husky is 10 months old and is also a registered therapy dog who will start her nursing home visits in June, 1997. Lady, my 7 month old German Shepherd, is content at present just to be our pet and guard dog.

Years ago, when my dad raised ST Bernards, our house dog Penny (Dimars First Penny) got into the trash and devoured several meat juce soaked napkins and suffered from bloat. Rushed to the vet when we noticed the swelling and the most valiant attempts by our vet (her stomach had rolled by this time), she was saved only to find that the damage was too great for her. For some unknown reason the bloat conditon had crippled her hind end and after much caring and carrying (you carry a 150 lb Saint out every time she's gotta go and hold her up), we finally had her put down because she had no way to get around on her own. She had been our family pet, guard dog, mother to over 50 pups, and a great pillow for watching TV for over 10 years.

(Brutis Maximus - Toy Poodle)
Just this past weekend our beloved Brutus passed away. He was age 16 and is terribly missed. The house is so quiet. He was the best -- loyal, cute, loving, attentive, giving, caring.

I own a Shih-tzu, and a Golden Retriever. Their names are Kelly (the female) and Casey (the male). They're not breeding or anything but they're so cute. Kelly likes to try to bite her toy and sit on it at the same time. She barks at my friend when he pets Casey. Casey bites shirt tails and one day he ran full speed towards the fence and BANG! hit the fence. He has been a little more cautios ever since.

He was living at the dog pound when I found him and it was instant love!!! The first night I went to bed early and he came in a laid down on the bed. When my husband tried to come to bed, he decided he needed to protect me and wouldn't let him in the room. They are great friends now but it was touch and go that first night.
5/26/97, Jennie, (Goldie - Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever)
My dog, Goldie thinks that she is a human. So whenever we ride our 4-wheeler, she jumps on and we give her a short ride. She looks so funny up there! After it has rained and there is mud puddles, I get a rock and throw it in a puddle. Goldie then puts her nose in the puddle and BLOWS BUBBLES! It is so cute. If she still can't find it, she paws around for it. She usually comes up with it too!
Whenever Mom buys plants and plants them in front of Goldie, we might as well say goodbye to them! She digs them up, carries them around, and chews on them. But if we put her in the garage while Mom plants them, she doesn't harm them. I think it is pretty smart of her to be able to pick out a new plant on 13 acres of land! Mom thinks it's stupid though.

(Bailey - English Bull Terrier)
Bailey is a very special family member! What a joy she is. We have recently discovered that Bailey has a severe heart condition that is common to her breed. She is 8 and a half years old now, but the Cardiologist told us that she is extremely surprised that Bailey even survived her 1st year because of her condition. We are all so very grateful for the time that Bailey has blessed us with . . . to us she's a miracle! So loving, fun (SUCH a personality!), loyal . . . we sincerely hope that she'll be with our family for many more years to come.
