in this urgent matter please email Peppi or Cindy (email addresses at the bottom of the letter). Thank you.

October 23, 2000
Hi everyone!
I am Director of Transportation for Mid America Rottweiler Rescue.
There is an URGENT situation
near Omaha, NE that needs everyone's help. There is a rottie rescuer
named Tracie that is going through some very difficult personal
situations right now that needs to move at least 20 rottweilers (a
few of them rottie mixes) IMMEDIATELY from her rescue into
foster or permanent homes. These dogs are mostly 1 yr and older
and need to be moved ASAP. That's where you all come in. I know
some of you don't even live near Omaha, but I am asking that
if you belong to any other dog list, transport list, rescue list, etc.
that you PLEASE post this request widely. This is an urgent situation
and these dogs need to be moved now!
We have foster homes in both the Chicago area from Recycled Rotts
and also from North East Rottweiler Rescue (in the New England area
of the U.S.) who have graciously offered their help in fostering 4
of these dogs (2 going to Chicago and the rest going to NERR&R).
We need transporters who can move these 4 dogs toward
Chicago to Recycled Rotts so that 2 of them can await transport
toward NERR&R. We also are needing foster homes to place the
rest of the 16+ (it could be less than 16 remaining.....still trying to
determine how many at this time) rotties!
If you live in between Omaha, NE and the New England area and
could help transport or foster these dogs, please contact me
PRIVATELY at PeppiS@aol.com. The rottie rescue is temporarily
shutting down until things can calm down in the rescuer's life. We
need EVERYBODY'S help on this situation. If you know of anybody
who can transport 4-5 dogs at a time inbetween Omaha and Chicago,
if you know of anybody who is sympathetic to rescue who needs
some flying time and would be willing to fly these dogs, if you are
on ANY lists where there might be someone who has a large van who
could take at least 4-5 dogs to Chicago from Omaha, please
crosspost this request widely! We are going to try and move these
dogs this weekend (October 28-29) if we can get folks to help out.
(There is also a rottie boy that is needing to go to an MARR
foster home that also would like to hitch a ride, if that is possible,
but he's in a safe place and if needed, will bow out for the moment
to make sure these dogs at the rescue gets first attention). Some
of the rotties (with a few mixes) are spayed/neutered. We are
currently trying to find out 100% if the dogs are UTD on shots.
In order to transport, we will make sure that ALL the dogs have a
rabies vaccination certificate, and if needed, a health certificate.
If you definintely need a health certificate (if let's say a trucker,
etc). then please let me know that too. Let me know the following
and as I get responses in, I will post to all those involved:
1) Name
2) Organization you are with (if any)
3) What legs you can help with
4) What days/times you are available this weekend (Oct 28/29)
5) How many dogs you can safely transport
The legs for Saturday 10/28/2000 are (these can be broken
down into smaller legs if we find enough people volunteer to
help)
#1 Omaha to Des Moines 2.5 hours 133 miles *need filled*
#2 Des Moines, IA to Iowa City IA 2 hours 114 miles *need filled*
#3 Iowa City, IA to Princeton, IL 2 hours 119 miles *needs filled*
#4 Princeton, IL to Chicago IL 2 hours 117 miles * need filled *
(overnight in Chicago, IL)
Legs for Sunday 10/29/2000 (for 2 of the rotties)
** still needing to find out if there is someone NERR&R
has contacted to do a Chicago toward New England area
transport or if you need help on that portion of the dogs
NERR&R is getting ** (Please respond to me privately.)
Also, I mentioned there were some that were mixes. There is one
in particular named Cody, that is a malamute/rottie mix (the
malamute coloring except for rottie eyebrows and is more
malamute than rottie) that is a doll. So if you know of anybody
in Malamute Rescue who could consider taking him if you have
any adopters that doesn't mind mixes, he would be great with them!
In closing, again, this is an urgent situation that needs immediate
attention. If you cannot help, but know of folks who might be
willing to open their heart to get these dogs out and into safe homes,
please feel free to pass this on. I thank you all for your time
and I hope to hear from you real soon! If you have ANY questions,
feel free to contact me or the person who is working with Tracie
to coordinate this, Cindy Workman, at the addresses below:
